Proverbs 2

Today’s Proverb is an incredible promise and teaching of how to attain wisdom. Verses 1-3 contain 8 action verbs that say it all. They are: accept, store, turn, apply, call, cry, look, search. If we get serious on our quest for wisdom and start doing what those verbs suggest, then the blessings are too numerous to count. The remainder of chapter 2 contains many of those blessings. I especially love verse 10. “For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.” Have you ever had wisdom enter your heart? It’s kinda like a “light bulb” moment. We start seeing the world differently. We see it through the eyes of wisdom. I would love to hear the story of a time when wisdom entered your heart.

Lord, make us serious seekers of wisdom.

As you know two years ago I was in a terrible situation. I searched and prayed for answers to why this terrible thing has happened to my family.I prayed God would give me the wisdom to understand why he would allow something like this to happen. I found out that not only were my girls and son molested but he had done this several times before but everyone else was scared to come forward because he was related to the sheriff and threats were made against them if they did. I was scared too, but God gave me the courage to go on and testify. God gave Emily the courage to come forward and tell. Because this terrible thing happened to my girls and son and because God gave us the courage no other child has to endure what he did to them. Even though Emily was only five at the time, countless other children were spared. Yes it was horrible but because of God's big plan she was able to stop the evil.

Many people have asked me how I do it managing to work and raise three children on my own. I have no family to help me. My only explanation is with God's help. There are days when its seems so overwhelming, but I have learned that God never abandons us but seems to be even closer when we need him. The simplest things can be hard to handle. When the car breaks down, or heat stops working or even just trying to get a chain back on a bike. Every time something happens God is there and puts someone in our path to help us. God has provided for us through all our trials and I seem to worry less cause I know whatever happens He will help us.

Thank you for being there that day I called. You praying with me has meant a lot to me. Thank you for all your prayers.

Dawn,

Thanks for your honesty and faithfulness to GC. Your story reminds me of several Proverbs that insure the God's care for you. One is Proverbs 10:29. "The way of the Lord is a refuge for the righteous, but it is the ruin of those who do evil." Keep pressing on.
